Hi saw your question while browsing for another topic. have you tried 'feliway' for your cat spraying problem? it is an artificial pheromone which discourages cats from 'bad' behavior - scratching, spraying etc. you'd have to test it to make sure it doesnt damage your furniture, but it helps to modify behavior. also, for the odor try 'nature's miracle'. again test first. both products can be found at the pet super stores. or you can try on a search engine on the web. good luck with kitty and your furniture!

: Hi Nan,

: I have a male cat who seemed to think a wood coffee table was a good place to mark. I've used Wood Elixir to solve his "problems", sometimes in conjunction with Febreeze first to remove the odor (though I'm not sure what the Febreeze will do to your finish. The antibacterial version will kill bacteria on solid surfaces if left for 30 seconds, according to the labelling). Generally though, I've simply used Wood Elixir to remove the stains and smell.

: One problem cat owners keep running into is "repeat performances" ... this usually happens if you use a cleaner containing ammonia, which will encourage your cat to reapply their scent. So, a lot of the popular cleaning products on the market today will simply encourage your cat to continue this activity.

: : You mention that you need detail. This is a pickled pine dresser with a smooth top. Our female, spayed cat has urinated on the top and I cannot remove the odor so that she does not repeat the act. This is a distressed wood and pine so it is relatively porous. I would appreciate any help you can give me on this.
