I recently purchased a white wood table and chairs with gold leaf trim. It is old and needs refinishing. Can I use liquid sandpaper and then paint with antique white flat enamel paint. Will the liquid sandpaper harm the gold leaf trim. The top is stained in a wood finish (possibly a cherrywood or hardwood of some kind. Should I use the same process to clean or should I sand the top and restain using a stain finish on it and a satin finish varnish.
