    Old Walnut Piano

    Dear Dr. Woodwell:

I have a walnut piano (medium/darl color) that is approximately 40-50 years old. The sound of the piano is still very good. However, the finish is dry and cracking in many places. It also has some dings and scratches and one piece of wood trim on one leg appears to becoming unglued. However, the parts of the piano that have not seen as much sunlight (under the top lid) are in pretty good shape and are darker in color. I had a wood repairer/refinisher in my house today for another warranty item who said that he could clean, polish, sand and reglue the leg trim on the piano for approx. $1,000. Well, I just don't have that kind of money, but I was wondering if your Elixir might work to revive/restore the wood and even out the tone/color. What do you think? Also, how can I be sure that your product is safe to use on such a valuable piece of furniture/art? Any advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
