    Warped antique table top (small)

I have an antique very old side table (small in size). The top is three leaf clover shaped and made of oak. The three legs slide into slits in the top and are anchored with a lower shelf that holds the legs together. The TOP has warped a little and I would like to know if there is any way to flatten it again slowly. Would setting a large heavy dictionary or two on it and leaving it for a month or more help??? I have it taken apart. Thank you!
