    Kithchen cabinets and wood trim

I have two questions and I must first say that I am at a real loss because I know nothing about wood, wood finish, etc. So here goes:

1 - My kitchen cabinets look okay but around the knobs there is some damage. There is definately some grease that I can clean off but the varnish (I don't know what the finish is) seems to be scraped off and clumped up in spots. The house is about 16 years old. I don't know if the cabinets are that old. I want to clean the cabinets and fix these marks. What do you suggest?

2 - How can I get paint off of the wood trim around my house?

    Thanks for your help!
