    "Bald" spot on antique

    Hi, Dr. Woodwell:
I have an antique, mirrored, (what has always been called a) buffet. It has a bald spot (naked wood) right in the middle because, years ago, I let a tomato from my garden rot there (aaarrrrggghh) and the acid ate away the finish. Anyway, is there some way to fill in that small area -- will a colored wax do it? -- without stripping the whole top? Thanks!
