    Severe weather damaged chair

    Hello.

I have found a beautiful ottoman style chair with alot of ornate carving. It is very obvious that the chair has severe weather damage. It looks to have been through bad rain and intense heat. There are alot of splits in the legs one major split has warped. The wood inside the split doesn't look to be too bad. The color has faded pretty bad. The wood looks like it needs reconditioning. My question: Do I soak my wood pieces in anything to restore moisture before I would attempt to fill the cracks or make other repairs? What could I do? I want this to be a functional piece. I look forward to hearing some advice. Thank you
