    Too bad you don't live in the States. You could sue the CD burner manfacturer for not warning you of the peripheral risks of installing peripherals.
    The color of the wood stain (walnut)is unimportant since the damage is in the finish. If it's antique, it's shellac. If it's newer, it's probably lacquer. Either way, Wood Elixir would solve the problem. (It can be sent by dog sled)
