Pizza and wood don't seem to mix

On the weekend we were busy installing a CD burner in my computer. We ordered a pizza and it sat on a wood table (stained dark) for quite some time. There was a piece of paper on the table under the pizza box. When the pizza box was moved that night the underlaying mark still was not discovered until today. The stain has the obvious ribbed marks of the corrugated pizza box.

I also have a white ring on another piece of dark stained furniture that doesn't want to come off. I believe it was from a hot drink. Any suggestions for this Canadian who doesn't have a dog-sled or live in an igloo?
