    : mixture of half methal hydrate and half
    : lacquer thinner. It will soften the old
    : oil which can then be scraped off. Get the
    : rest of it with steel wool dipped in the
    : same solution. It's messy but shouldn't
    : be too difficult. No other surface prep is
    : required before applying the new finish.
