Of course Wood Elixir is this best product to use toi clean and restore an old finish....I'm surprised at the question. Whether or not the black staining is from age or from bad management of the furniture, Wood Elixir will improve and restore the original appearance and finish of this 1500's piece. I must warn you that many dealers would prefer that you do nothing. If you do have a 16th century piece of some interest, have it appraised before you do anything.
