: I want to paint my old bedroom colonial furniture white..and my maple kitchen table and chairs. I am an ok painter but don't have a lot of time of knowledge about stripping etc. I am painting this furniture to defer purchasing new and want to do it as quickly and as simply as possible. Suggestions? Tina
You don't have to strip your furniture if you are going to paint it. Just sand it to smooth it out, vacuum off the dust, and perhaps wipe it down well. New paint won't stick well to a dirty surface. If it is dark, make your first coat a primer coat. Go to a reputable paint store and they will select product for you. Sand and vacuum between coats
