I have my mom's cherry Ethan Allen dining room set - table with leaves, six chairs, hutch and server.
The hutch and server are in great shape, but the finish has dulled.
The table, I will admit, I tried to do what my aunt suggested with paste wax on the top only.....and now, I have HUGE waxy build up with smears and swirls.
The chairs are the toughest problem. Some of the backs - which are all thin round wood dowels - are kind of whitish...like they have 'dry skin'. The seats are wood and from 'hot bottoms' sitting on them over the years are dull, a bit rough and have what appears to be material imprints.
I'm moving to a new home with an actual dining room and would love to be able to restore this set. I'd appreciate any suggestions you could offer.
Thanks,
Janice
