: Spot repair of a lacquer finish does require the proper tools, appropriate chemicals and considerable skill to be invisible. This can only be accomplished by a professional. What you can do yourself to repair the missing finish is apply Wood Elixir with 0000 steel wool. This will smooth the finish, increase the sheen and add protection. It will not be a perfect repair but will help the appearance.
