If I'm correct in assuming that the wood is cracked and not just the finish, then I'll also assume that it is of oriental manufacture (usually Pillipines or China) not usually Japanese. If both of these assumptions are true, then it is because the wood used in the furniture was not cured properly which takes time. I'm sorry to say that this problem is typical of imports from eastern countries and is not reversable. If my assumptions are incorrect, then please supply more details. If this is a recent purchase, you have a claim against the manufacturer and deserve a refund. P.S. Please don't use Pledge!
