    Although I don't know for sure,I'm going to assume that the lighter color is behind the picture.
    If this is true, there are two possibilities.
    The picture protected that area from smoke and cooking and therefore it is a cleaning problem which can be solved with Wood Elixir. Or it is a 'color shift' in the polyurethene which can addressed by adding a tint to the offending area.
