    Since maple has such a tight grain, it does not take stain very well. So, manufacturers would put a tint in the (lacquer) finish and spray it on to give the furniture an even color. The problem with some of the tints is that they will discolor over time and can also be 'bleached' by ultra-violet light (sun). If this is the case, it is not reversable and the only cure is a new finish. If on the other hand, the discoloration is on the surface, (wax or other contaminants) then it can be removed with Wood Elixir and a cloth. I hope the latter is the case.
