    marker on honey pine finish

My daughter marked on nearly every piece of wood that made up her baby crib with a red marker. I was never able to remove the stain, and the furniture has been in temp.-controlled storage. Now that I am expecting again, I hope to repair the crib. I don't know the type of marker, but am guessing it was a permanent marker. I also have several stains on a natural finish, butcher block-type dining table. Please help??
