I've never experienced this but I can see how it happened. The trick is to separate them without too much damage. I have successfully released all sorts of things from the surface of antique furniture by using Wood Elixir by allowing it to seep in between the two surfaces which softens the bond allowing release with a controlled pressure. Put the 2 pieces on their sides with support under the one which is off the floor. Pour Wood Elixir into the seem between them. Allow it to penetrate for a few minutes. With a hair dryer, heat the table surface or better still two hair dryers to do both surfaces. This process might take 30 mins. intermittently applying even but not excessive, pressure to part them. When they come apart, the finishes will be uneven. You can smooth out at least some of this roughness by applying Wood Elixir with steel wool.
Moi, if this doesn't work, I'll give you a refund. If is does, I'll still give you your money back when you send me before and after pictures.
