Wood Elixir will solve the white water damage and as well, stop the flaking process. If the raised areas you referred to are actually the veneer split and curling up, this can be repaired by injecting glue under the loose veneer and applying extreme pressure til set.

: I have an old oak veneer table that has white
: water stains, as well as some raised areas
: with flaking. Presently I am coviering it
: with a tablecloth, but would like to show
: the wood and use the table without
: placemats, if possible. What suggestions
: do you have for me?
    : Thanks
