My Webmaster answered part of your question; I'll answer the other part. The problem you have is moisture trapped in the finish. Baking Soda is an abrasive and mayonnaise is vegetable oil. So what you have is a lubricated abrasive which sometimes works for this problem but only if it is very superficial. Wood Elixir handles the problem differently by penetrating the finish and displacing the moisture. In only the most severe case is an abasive required and then apply Wood Elixir with '0000' steel wool.
