Restoring Finish on Cherrywood Table Top Posted by Sue Summerville on 4/13/2002, 8:00 pm 68.43.109.219 We have a solid cherrywood table that has been finished with a catalyzed-conversion varnish - a very high gloss finish. We want to restore the finish only. The finish has some slight cloudy marks (due to heat) and many hairline scratches. This table is used heavily each day with our large family. Our first choice would be to have a finish that has no gloss to it - more practical for our family. Would you recommend using your wood elixir to enhance this type of finish? Would the elixir keep the high gloss or can we dull the finish down? We would like to keep this as simple as possible.
