    Worn Finish

Judging from your description of the furniture, the finish is lacquer and has a stain in it. If this is correct then the worn areas will appear to be much lighter than the surrounding areas which means the the finish is missing and and the color is gone with it. A good test is to wet your finger and touch it to the worn area. The resulting color when wet is what you will get using Wood Elixir. If you are satisfied with that color then Wood Elixir will stop the finish from continuig to flake off and will seal those areas where the finish is missing but, Wood Elixir cannot restore a finish which isn't there. If you would like the color darker, apply a wiping stain to the bare spots and wipe on an Antique Oil or Tung Oil finish.
