    Cherry tables

Regarding my earlier question about what finish was on my cherry tables, you mentioned it was probably lacquer, especially since they're only 8 years old.
Out of all the pieces of the set, the sofa table was damaged down to the bare wood, so I took the liberty of sanding the entire top, till I was rid of the old finish. I noticed the wood was significantly lighter than the rest, so I put two coats of oil based cherry stain on it. It still seems a bit lighter than the rest of the table. What else do I need to do to make it match? Could there have been a stain/lacquer finish that was originally applied to give it the deeper tones?
