    If the tables are less than 70 years old, they are almost certainly lacquer finished. If it's older it could be shellac. But regardless of the type of finsh, the easiest way to restore the finish is to use Wood Elixir and after that, if you want the finish to be brighter, use a high quality cream car wax containing carnauba.
