Just for clarity, a 'finish' is a protective coating applied after staining. What you have there is an oil-based tint which, being neutral, will impart little if any color. You must still add the finish. To test for the resultant color of a clear finish, wet the tip of your finger and touch it to the unfinished repair. If this spot matches the surrounding color, then apply a clear finish such as polyurethane and you're done. If after the color test, it is still lighter than the surrounding area, then add a slightly darker stain to match and then add the finish.
