    Half done paint-removal job

I have a very old bureau (late 1800s) that was unfortunatly painted back in the 1970s. A couple of years ago, I thought I would try taking the paint off and refinishing it. I purchased some paint remover and applied it. It was winter and I tried this out in my garage. The remover chemical jelled up and got very thick due to the cold. Not all the paint was removed (there is still some in crevices and in the deep grain). The remover that I used called for a follow-up application of some kind of remover remover. However, due to the cold temperature, I did not get to apply this in the time frame required -- I don't think I ever did get it applied, so the gel has long since sunk in. I figure I have ruined the furniture. It is still sitting in the garage, and I am not sure what I can do about it now.

    Any suggestions?
