    previously "dipped" chairs

I have two very rare and expensive antique chairs. They were "dipped" (verses stripped) Hence they are white and extremely dry. I have already tried the tung oil treatment to recharge, so to speak, the moisture level but of course this is not happening. If I were to pickle, using the Minwax "pickled oak" process, would the result be the same if wood was in good condition?
