I often hear this question from those who have allergies or sensitive skin. Although I don't wear gloves myself, I do recommend their use. Wood Elixir is comprised of a combination of solvents and naturally occuring oils. I can't discuss the formula, but I can tell you that each of the nine ingredients is included to accomplish a specific task. Since there are different types of contaminants (some oil based some water born), they require different treatments which are included in Wood Elixir. Also include is an amalgamator to re-establish the bond between the finish and the wood, and a sealer to prevent the re-occurance of the loss of surface integrity. Finally, Wood Elixir leaves behind a buffable membrane of additional finish protection. In short, Wood Elixir is a complete treatment which cleans, repairs and protects, all at once.
