If the scratches are through the finish and into the wood, they must be filled. An easy repair is to use wax sticks. They come in a variety of wood tones and can be blended to match the color of your table. If the scratches are on the surface, then they can be sealed with Wood Elixir. The area where the finish is worn off is probably lighter than the surrounding finish. If this is true, you can touch up that part of the finish with Antique Oil which is also available in various wood shades.
