Much of the importance and therefore the value of any antique is in maintaining the original condition. This doesn't mean that you shouldn't repair a piece as necessary it means that if you do anything including cleaning, be sure that the materials and methods used are faithful to the period in which the item was made. You don't want an antique to look new. Rather, is should be well maintained. That is why Wood Elixir was developed; to clean and strenghten the original finish while allowing the 'patina' and those finish characteristics which attest to its' age, to be maintained. This is where I recommend that you start. When you see the results of what Wood Elixir can do, I'm sure you will deside this is all you need.
