I stored my Ethan Allen 4 poster bed and chest for couple of years. When I recently got the bed and chest of drawers out of storage I was shocked at the condition of the wood.
The chest of drawers has cracks in the finish evidently where the cherry wood was pieced together originally. Just where the strips of cherry are together no where else. The cracks are deep going all the way through the finish. It is covered on bottom half in mold. The rest of the finish looks dull and dirty.
The headboard has fingerprints and smudges that won't come off the finish and some of the finish you can crack off with your nail. Other parts of the finish are perfect and some of the finish rolls into a ball of dark sticky stuff.
Before it was stored my mother had the furniture for several years and she was a chain smoker.
Until I found your website I was considering having both pieces professionally refinished at about $1,000.
This is beautiful furnature but in current condition it is a mess.
Can your restorer fix this problem without damaging the wood or it's beautiful cherry color?
I'm not skilled at refinishing at all. Would I be able to use your product?
What do you clean furnature with to keep the finish beautiful and the wood in good condition. All the furnature oils make such a mess and never dry. Is there something better?
Thanks for your help,
Faith
