To solve your problem... : First- Don't buy their crap. #2 Clean/ : strip your banister w/ denatured alcohol : and steel wool. Let it dry for at least 2 : hours (#0000 or #000 is the best)Then : apply a penetrating stain (alcohol : based)and then brush on a simple laquer : such as the gallon cans available at your : local paint shop or Home Depot. Lightly : sand in between coats w/ 220 and then 320 : paper and then #0000 steel wool. (do at : least 3 coats) : P.S. There is very little possibility that : your banister is cherry.
