    Doc,
You are right on the money, with both assumptions. One last question. What product do you recommend for the care and maintenance of our furniture? We are currently purchasing our furniture for it's beauty and function. However are are also purchasing the furniture to pass on to our children as reminders of our travel to the Far East.

: Recently I have purchased several pieces of
: hardwood furniture for my wife. We are
: assigned to duty in Japan (I am a US
: Marine). We just returned from vacation.
: We left our house locked with the heating
: system on low. This was to protect the
: pipes. What we found on return made us
: sick. Several pieces of her furniture have
: crackes. I can send pictures if it helps.
: What do you recommend. The wood has a dark
: laquer finish. Additionally she uses
: pledge to care for all of our wood
: furniture. We really are confussed why
: some of the furniture has cracked, our
: older furniture is doing fine. Please help
: so that we can prevent any further
    : crackes.
